"a good standard of care and education for children" - OFSTED Inspection Report

C.A.D.W.A. Nursery is a well established Early Years preschool nursery that offers morning (8:30 - 11:30) and afternoon (12:30 - 3:30) sessions for 2 to 5 year olds, Monday to Friday during term-time. If your child is attending either (or both) of these sessions then they can also stay with us for lunch (11:30 - 12:30) but they must bring a packed lunch in with them.

The nursery has been in operation for over 40 years, and is managed by the committee of the Chelwood And District Welfare Association, Registered Charity Number 521160. C.A.D.W.A. Nursery employ three highly qualified and experienced child care practitioners who have each been dedicated to the nursery for over ten years.

C.A.D.W.A. Nursery implements the Early Years Foundation Stage (E.Y.F.S.), which sets the statutory standards that all Early Years childcare providers must meet. This includes all maintained schools, non-maintained schools, independent schools and all other providers on the Early Years Register.

The E.Y.F.S. aims to provide:
quality and consistency in all early years settings
a secure foundation for all children for good progress through school and life
    partnerships between different practitioners
partnerships between parents or carers and practitioners
equality of opportunity for all children

All staff have a sound knowledge of the E.Y.F.S. and plan, observe and evaluate each child's individual learning and development. Children's progress is collected and recorded in achievement portfolios which contain written and photographic evidence. We also work in partnership with parents to gather and share information.

We are a pack away setting which means all equipment and resources have to be put away after each day. The Nursery is always fully set up before the children arrive and the room is organized into specific areas to support all areas of development. The children have daily access to a role play area, creative area, mathematical area, writing area, book area, construction area, small world play also sand and or water and play dough. There is a large secure grassed garden area as well as a covered all weather area for daily outdoor play. The daily routine allows for a mixture of child initiated free play as well as adult guided learning and activities.
